THE WORD by : Pastor Bing Ocampo Good Tidings to All People "And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people." - Luke 2:10 (KJV) What makes good news depends on the interest of a person. For example, the currency devaluation against US dollar to Asian countries. It is a nightmare to most people, but definitely good news to families. Such as those overseas contract workers who receives dollar remittances from other countries. There are always two sides of the coin we might say in every situation. The death of a person causes grief to some but joy to his enemies. A contractor might be rejoicing for successfully winning a bid to a project, while other bidders are full of jealousy for not getting the contract themselves. A newly wed couple is joyful for finally making it to the altar with the mate he or she loves, but that same marriage breaks the heart of those who wished to be the lucky guy in a just concluded romance about. Luke 2:10 is good news to all! This is the news, which does not break but mend broken hearts and lives. "Fear not, for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people," proclaimed the angel. No man is a loser in this news. We have all the reasons to rejoice over this news. In Luke 10:24, the Lord said, "For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them." Healing, new life, miracles, peace, unspeakable joy and full of glory and most of all salvation of our souls are but a few reasons to rejoice over this good news. God himself was manifested in the flesh, took the form of a servant to save our souls from sins. He did it not for the righteous, but for sinners like us to be sons of God! We were on our way to eternal damnation because of our sins, but now to life eternal because of His grace. The one and only holy God paid our sins by His own blood. He did it not for the rich and famous only, but for everyone. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." In Acts 10:34-35, the bible declares, "Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him." More so, if we only heed this good tiding of God's saving grace, there will be no more bad news for us. For we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
